We develop electrochemical strategies for the separation of critical elements and synthesize novel metal-organic materials for emerging applications in sustainability and energy. By understanding how ions move and react in engineered electrolytes and molten phases, we unlock new pathways for sustainable materials processing and the clean energy transition.
Research Focus
Ligand-mediated ion speciation
Through precise ligand coordination, we modulate the speciation and redox behavior of metal ions in aqueous solution, creating selective electrochemical pathways for the separation of critical elements.
Electrocatalysis
We develop high-performing inorganic and metal-organic materials for the electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reactions and nitrate reduction reactions.
Na-ion batteries
We develop novel cathode materials to expand the working voltage and charge-storage capacity of Na-ion batteries, unlocking their full potential as sustainable energy storage devices.
